Kumamoto Earthquake Relief and Recovery

The United States-Japan Foundation and its US-Japan Leadership Program are helping raise funds for recovery and relief efforts in Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan following the magnitude 7.1 earthquake that struck July 28, 2026. They will match all contributions up to $25,000, for a total goal of $50,000. They are channeling donations to Peace Winds America, a leading organization in the relief efforts which JET alum Jim Gannon (Ehime 1992-94) serves as CEO.

Peace Wind's ARROWS disaster medical team dispatched immediately following the earthquake. Their doctors and nurses arrived in Kumamoto within hours of the earthquake and are currently part of search-and-rescue efforts. Other Peace Winds staff and search dogs have arrived at other area locations to take part in rescue activities.

DONATE
