Coaching
Reading Group
The goal of the USJETAA Japanese Reading Group is to help advanced beginner and intermediate level students improve their reading skills. Each month, we explore a short reading and discuss its literary and cultural significance. Participants should attempt to do the reading on their own and come to the meeting with any questions. We gather and read the assignment sentence by sentence to understand how the Japanese is working.
A recording of last month's meeting can be found here. Please join us on Facebook at the USJETAA Japanese Reading Group, where links to the reading and other details are posted each month.
The next reading group session is taking place Friday, May 8 at 8:00 PM ET.
Our Japanese Language Coaching sessions are designed to boost your language skills with practical tips and strategies, whether you want to improve reading, speaking, or comprehension. Tailored for advanced beginners and intermediate learners, each quarterly session focuses on a specific topic and offers real-time guidance.
Led by experts Daniel Morales, Fukushima 2005-2008, (host of the Japanese Reading Group) and Chris Lindsay, Hyogo 2012-2014, (Nihongo app developer), you'll receive personalized advice drawn from their combined experience of over 40 years. 一緒にがんばろう—let’s work hard and succeed together!
The next group coaching session is taking place on Friday, April 24 at 7:00 PM ET.

You will also have access to our Japanese language coaches and community leaders so you can stay connected as you continue learning.
Access is available to USJETAA members and to non-JETs who have participated in one of our past events. USJETAA membership is only available to JETs and alumni. Click here for membership options. “Friends of JET” (non-JETs) are welcome to join, but must have registered/participated in at least one previous USJETAA event or program.
