Maplopo Joins the USJETAA Community!
USJETAA is beyond pleased to introduce Maplopo as our newest corporate sponsor. Maplopo is the only immersive, synchronous and asynchronous program specifically designed to help intermediate and advanced learners internalize the Japanese language through the power of story.
Everything is taught entirely in English for the first seven weeks as you’re immersed in a short story by Dazai Osamu and translated by Maplopo founders Doc and Reiko Kane. The learning then shifts to all Japanese for the remaining three weeks. Learners also work on their writing skills by submitting a writing assignment each week, and their speaking skills in five special live "writer's room" type sessions to close out the course. You'll learn grammar, vocabulary, kanji, and structure within the context of the story, and also be exposed to functional and situational dialog that take you beyond the story.
It's a rigorous (yet fun!), away-from-the-textbook approach that's designed specifically to meet the needs of serious learners of Japanese. Accountability abounds because of direct access to the founders, a cohort session helper from NHK with 20 years of Japanese experience, frequent complimentary kaiwa and invitations to private guest visits.
Maplopo programs are also unique in that you pay in the currency of your residency. So, if you're a JET living overseas, your tuition is calculated in your local currency. As a part of this sponsorship, upon acceptance, JET community members receive a guaranteed scholarship of $400 (or, 40,000 yen, 400 euro, etc.) depending on residency.
We're happy to have an advanced language partner like Maplopo working with us, and if beating procrastination and keeping your Japanese from stagnating is important to you, we hope you consider Maplopo in your quest to better your Japanese now and in the future.
